Buddies Bubble

On Friday we met with our buddy class (Room 16) and the playground was covered in bubbles. We all had so much fun. As we watched and blew bubbles, we shared rich language that came to mind. Words like; smiling, laughter, floating, rainbows, sphere, circles, colourful, blow, bright, fantastic, funny and many more, were then recorded for our buddies to use in their writing.

Watch the slide show and see what other words you can think of to describe this experience?

Probability

This term in maths we are thinking about probability. Room 12 completed a 'define map' and came up with words used when talking about he probability of things happening. We then used some of these words to write True and False statements.

Here are some of our True Statements.

Usually
the children in Room 12 will complete their homework.
It is likely George will go home after school.
We always brush our teeth during the day.
Mrs Waters rarely gives us presents.
We never eat spiders for dinner.
Occasionally Room 12 will get to play a game because they have been good.
We are consistently breathing if we are alive.

Here are some of our False Statements.

Thomas says he is always good in the classroom.
We consistently go to bed when we are told.
It is likely Jude was the smallest baby in the world.
We occasionally eat and drink.
I usually go to bed at midnight.
It is likely I will win lotto.
At lunchtime I never win at handball.
I rarely go to the toilet.
I am always going to be the fastest girl in the world.

Welcome to 2012

What a great start to the year. Today a fantastic group of Year 6 students arrived in Room 12 positive and ready to learn. I can't wait to be part of their educational development as the year progresses.

We also welcomed to Room 12 today our gorgeous student teacher, Miss Spencer. She will be with us for the first 3 weeks and will return for 7 weeks in the middle of the year.

There will be a Senior Syndicate Newsletter distributed shortly but until then a couple of important pieces of information for Room 12.

1. Our swimming days will be Monday, Tuesday and Thursday so please ensure togs are at school on those days.
2. Library will be on a Monday.
3. Children should now have all Stationary at school so that we can begin our full programme. This should include those items purchased from the school office.

Thank you for your help with these matters and I look forward to meeting you all next Thursday evening.
